COVID-19 RACE UPDATES
April 13: After carefully considering options for our 2020 races, we have decided to share the sad news that there will not be a Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon, or 10k this year.
We have been hosting our marathon since 1981 through sun, rain and even snow. It is heartbreaking to not be able to do it again this year, but the health and safety of our runners, our volunteers and our entire community must come first.
Our focus is now on our 40th Anniversary Race set for June 6, 2021. We are committed to making this race the best one yet with a celebration 40 years in the making with live music, special awards and more. All 2020 registered participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K will receive free deferral to the 2021 race. Click here for instructions on how to process your deferral.
Please know that the many hours and miles you put into training for the 2020 race did not go to waste. Now is the time to focus on what we can control and the many things that bring us happiness. For many of our loyal participants, running is one of those things.
Thank you for your continued support throughout this difficult decision. We will continue to communicate additional updates to you and look forward to seeing you on June 6, 2021.
April 3: As events around the world continue to change on an hourly basis, we at the Steamboat Marathon are meeting regularly with local health and government officials to determine the best course of action for the race and our community.
We continue to waive deferral fees so all current and future registrants can defer to the corresponding 2021 event now through August 1. Visit the FAQ page for information on how to defer.
The safety of our participants, vendors, and volunteers continues to be our absolute top priority. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we know there will be many questions that we will look to answer in the coming days.
March 20: The Steamboat Marathon, Half and 10K is currently scheduled to take place as planned. The safety of our participants, vendors, and volunteers is our absolute top priority and we are monitoring the developing situation on a daily basis. We are following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) guidelines and recommendations for gatherings and sporting events.
Registration is still open for the race. We are waiving deferral fees so all current and future registrants can defer to the corresponding 2021 event now through August 1. Visit the FAQ page for information on how to defer. Our team understands this is an uncertain time and appreciates the support from the running community of our marathon throughout the years.
