Bud Werner Memorial Library is located in downtown and has a coffee shop and activities for the kids that include storytimes and hand-on activities. Visit Off the Beaten Path Bookstore located on 9th street. You can browse their books, buy a tasty treat from the café, and check out the puzzle games they have for you to take back to our lodging.

Take a scenic drive

Explore our stunning scenery from the comfort of your car on road trips that take you through beautiful Steamboat Springs and beyond.

North: Routt County Road 129 features gorgeous, rolling hills and farmland, The Zirkel Wilderness, and Steamboat Lake. Stop for a bite to eat at the Clark Store or Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse.

South: Highway 131 loop around Routt County Road 14 to the Oak Creek Canyon, Town of Oak Creek and Stagecoach reservoir.

Stroll the Art Galleries

Stop into the Art Depot located on 13th street (this old train depot now holds beautiful art). Check the calendar for art classes hosted by Steamboat Creates. Gaze at stunning work of fine art at the free Steamboat Art Museum located at 8th and Lincoln. Or pop into one of the several art galleries located in historic downtown Steamboat. 

Visit one of our Craft Breweries

Sample locally crafted beer and learn how it’s made. Storm Peak Brewing, Mountain Tap Brewery, and Yampa Valley Tap House have something for every form of beer lover. Or sample some locally made brews at Yampa Valley Brewing in downtown Steamboat Springs. You can even bring the kiddos and play some games or enjoy the kid's menu at most places.

Learn about the history of the valley and the county

Discover the rich history of the region at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. They have a variety of exhibits including computer and video interactive displays, hands-on exhibits for kids, a scavenger hunt for kids (or the young at heart!), oral history library, and a local history research center.
