Steamboat Art Museum

  • Overview

Housed in the historic First National Bank/Rehder Building on 8th and Lincoln, the Steamboat Art Museum (SAM) is an important nationally recognized creative and historical asset to the communities of Northwest Colorado. As the only art museum in the region, SAM’s reputation is built on presenting exceptional exhibits of living master artists, relevant to Western heritage. Annually, SAM hosts two major exhibits, an annual Plein Air Event and related educational outreach to youth and seniors, workshops, artists’ lectures, and collaborative special events shaped by our exhibits. Admission to exhibits and outreach is free.  Additionally, SAM’s Museum Store promotes over 50 local and regional artists, vendors, and authors.

SAM’s goals are to inform, educate, inspire, and engage museum guests, members, and artists by offering outstanding exhibitions, educational and cultural programming, community outreach, and collaboration. Representing a diverse variety of genres, exhibits and related programming lead to inspirational collaborations with leading institutions nationwide, as well as local organizations.  SAM is drawing national attention as an important cultural venue as our exhibitions and programming grow.
