OktoberWest is Steamboat’s answer to the Oktoberfest madness that takes the country in early fall. No crazy German beers for us - not when we have two breweries and a brewpub in our own town! Steamboat takes the Bavarian tradition and morphs it into our own Western celebration. Bavarian attire not required. There is no keg bowling here, just good ol’ Rocky Mountain fun and a free bus system to take you home.
If you’re here for the entire weekend, then go ahead and jump into the Suds N’ Grub pub crawl on Friday night, September 18, a fundraiser for the Young Professionals Network here in town. A small card will give you directions to every participating bar and restaurant in town that’s pouring local Colorado brews out of their taps. Most will have food specials as well, to make sure you can keep the party going.
Head to Gondola Square on September 19 for one of the mountain’s final events before the gondola closes, and start the festivities by drinking Colorado beers. The Saturday festival features tastings, pints, food, music, and the annual I Love Beef Cook-off. What could be more appropriate to the Yampa Valley than a celebration of our favorite food along with our favorite drinks?
Parents, bring the kiddos with you. The Coca-Cola Adventure Zone at the mountain ensures they will have a fun place to play while you sample some of the 60+ beers in the beer garden throughout your afternoon. The activity attendants are top notch and will make sure you go home with the right kiddos if you fall into a few 8% IPAs.
