Whether you’re hiking, biking, skiing, or riding in Steamboat Springs, there always comes the best day of the vacation: rest day. It might be four days in a row of first to last chair skiing or day two after hiking the Zirkel Circle in one day. Or, it might be your first day in Steamboat after a long drive from Denver International Airport! Whenever you are ready to encounter a soothing relaxation day at the spa, Steamboat can deliver on experiences that range from personal to bachelorette parties.

When you’re looking to get together with the gals, head to Rocky Mountain Day Spa. The large relaxation lounge has plenty of space for your group to socialize in between appointments. In the last year, the spa on the base of the ski resort has renovated the lounge to double its size, and it is an oasis of serenity. There are boucle lounge chairs and recliners, dark chocolates from the spa’s skin care line, Eminence, as well as champagne, tea, and citrus water as you wait for your appointment. With a full staff of estheticians and massage therapists, you can choose from multiple treatments: facials, waxing, massage, and even full body treatments, including mud wraps. Naturally, everything has the potential to be upgraded based on your preference, including CBD massage oil, red light therapy, and even a B-12 injection. If you’re looking for luxury, look no further, and shrug into the pillowy soft robes at Rocky Mountain. The spa has two locations, conveniently located at the Sheraton and the Steamboat Grand hotels.

If you’re looking for a more personal experience, consider Radiant, one of the newest spas in town. The owner and lead esthetician, Jessica, has been in the business for over two decades. After working for the upscale Three Forks Ranch up north, she moved her business to downtown Steamboat. Her boutique spa offers facials, waxing, peels and microdermabrasion in a convenient, quiet location on 11th Street. Your first appointment at Radiant is  the start of a relationship between you, Jessica, and your skin. What are your goals, she asked me, at my first appointment? After filling out a short survey and a brief conversation, we landed on a plan for my skin. With a little bit of information we landed on a treatment plan. By turns charming, funny, and respectfully quiet as I fell into a trance in the midst of a heavenly foot reflexology massage, she creates a space that is rejuvenating and friendly.

Nestled downtown directly across from a calm stretch of the Yampa River, Waterside Day Spa is the perfect place to get relaxed, then primped and primed for the night ahead. Offering full salon services for hair and nails as well as facials, massage, and waxing, Waterside Day Spa serves individuals or groups, including wedding parties, with ease. The most unique service at Waterside is their Salt Room. One of a kind in the Yampa Valley, this space is utterly transcendent. A small fan blows microparticles of salt in the air, demonstrated to provide healing effects, known as halotherapy. All you have to do is literally sit and breathe, as you recline with a cozy blanket and let your lungs absorb the anti-inflammatory effects of pure salt. It’s a room I’ve lost time in, for sure, and unlike other services at Waterside, you can buy a punch card for repeat visits or incorporate time into any treatment. Leaving this spa easily gets you in the mood to show off your glowing skin and freshly blow dry.

Finally, Old Town Hot Springs, the valley’s oldest health club, offers spa services that lean heavily on its location and access to the heart hot springs downtown. While not your typical spa experience, the combination of professional massage and a long soak in the hot springs is probably nirvana for certain spa seekers. The massage center is down a quiet hallway away from the gleeful children in the outdoor pools. Choose from seven types of massage, including Swedish, deep tissue, or lymphatic drainage from nine certified therapists, you can also upgrade with multiple add-ons, including TMJ or reiki work. After your massage, enjoy a dip in one of the four tiled hot springs in the outdoor pool. I’d suggest going in late afternoon so you soak after your massage while looking at the stars. And, for the working parents out there, take advantage of the onsite child care so your massage doesn’t rely on a babysitter.

As Jess at Radiant says ... you are beautiful, and you were born to shine. We hope you find the best spa situation for you during your visit, so you can find your happy place and turn up your glow.
