Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund
Our trail systems offer unparalleled access to the outdoors and maintaining those trails is a community effort. The Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment for non-motorized trail projects in Routt and Moffat Counties. There are two ways to make a donation to Yampa Valley trails to help us maintain the trail we all love for future generations.
- Visit one of the 10 trail meters located close-to-town, including Spring Creek trailhead and Fetcher Park. These donation stations are refurbished parking meters with credit card readers.
- Give online at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation or make a monthly contribution.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to volunteer during your visit to Steamboat Springs that will help preserve our stunning natural landscapes, trails, and history. Check out these organizations and visit their websites to find out ways you can get involved.
- Routt County Riders: A non-profit organization that advocates for all types of cyclists in Northwest Colorado. RCR hosts various trail workdays, social rides, safety initiatives, and more!
- Yampa Valley Sustainability Council: The catalyst for building a sustainable community in the Yampa Valley region. Plant trees with other community members on a volunteer day or create your own sustainable volunteer opportunity.
- Friends of the Wilderness: This non-profit assists the US Forest Service in managing and protecting wilderness areas in Routt National Forest and parts of the White River National Forest. They have a wide range of volunteer options, including maintenance projects, education, and patrolling.
- Yampatika: A non-profit that aims to inspire environmental stewardship through education. You can volunteer to help their naturalists on trips or work on projects.
- Continental Divide Trail Coalition: The CDTC is a volunteer-based organization that organizes trail projects and volunteer days. Steamboat Springs is a designated CDT Gateway Community and you can work with the CDTC on maintaining this historic trail.
