What do you get when you mix hundreds of determined runners, a stretch of country road, warm weather and a few wayward cows?
You get the 2025 Steamboat Marathon.
Each year, this event reminds me why I love this community. I grew up in North Routt, and it remains one of my favorite places. It’s not the incredible views that make this race special. It’s the people. And this year, you all outdid yourselves.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the citizens of Routt County and Steamboat Springs, the volunteers, Marathon Committee, sponsors, and staff of the City of Steamboat Springs and Routt County for their outstanding support in making the 2025 Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k an incredible success. I also want to extend a special thanks to our partners at Alpine Bank. Their team goes above and beyond, even handing out medals at the finish and personally congratulating our runners.
We know a race of this size causes disruption and we can’t thank you enough for your patience and warm hospitality. To the property owners and residents of 129 and those along the 10K route who allow us to set up aid stations and race starts, thank you for sharing your home with us. To our many volunteers and Marathon Committee, I cannot thank you enough for your contributions. Your enthusiasm, encouragement, and smiling faces were a source of motivation.
I would also like to thank the City of Steamboat Springs and Routt County for their continued collaboration and support. The cooperation of local authorities, law enforcement, fire, streets and services play a vital role in ensuring the safe execution of the event.
To our runners: We’re so glad you joined us. You came for the course, but you stayed for the community, and maybe the cows.
The Steamboat Marathon has been a part of this valley for 44 years, and with your continued support, we’ll keep it running (pun intended) for many more.
