Fourth of July Celebration

The Fourth of July in Steamboat is more than a celebration of national pride; it’s an opportunity to honor the Yampa Valley’s rich western heritage with fun for all.

Events like the Ski Jumping Extravaganza, hometown parade, and the largest Pro Rodeo event of the summer, have visitors proclaiming independence since 1927.

Cowboys' Roundup Days

Since 1927, Steamboat Springs, Colorado has celebrated Independence Day in true Western fashion. This is a special holiday and Steamboat does it right with an iconic hometown parade.

Fireworks and Preventing Wildfires

Steamboat Springs will not offer a firework display as part of its Independence Day Celebration. Colorado’s low humidity has its perks but can also create dry conditions. Our community places a high value on wildfire prevention, and we thank visitors and residents in advance for not using fireworks in Steamboat Springs this Fourth of July. Learn more about preventing wildfires.

Parking & Transportation

Please note that during all events over the July 4th weekend, there will be additional parking available at Steamboat Springs High School and the Stockbridge Transit Center.

The traffic plan will use a circular configuration that sees US40 eastbound traffic diverted onto Yampa Street and US40 westbound traffic onto Oak Street. During the closure, temporary bus stops for westbound Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) routes will be on Oak at 5th, 7th, & 9th. Eastbound SST routes will use the same cross streets but with temporary stops on Yampa St. Buses will return to normal operations when Lincoln Avenue reopens.
