Our unconscious biases impact how we engage with others in ways we’re not aware of. In this interactive and inspiring workshop, you’ll learn:

  • Why diverse and inclusive organizations have a higher ROI
  • How inclusive leadership that invites open debate is a critical part of DEI efforts
  • How unconscious bias can hinder creativity, innovation, and performance and lead to harassment claims
  • How we can understand and push back against our unconscious biases

  • How micro-affirmations and ally behavior enhance inclusion while lifting morale and performance of all

During our time together, we will discuss ways to best prepare for the recruiting process, how to evaluate and rate candidates, reference checking, ways to test applicant's capabilities as well as tips on interview awareness and assessing the interview. Extra take-aways will include tips on meaningful appreciation once that stellar hire is in your door.

Come learn how you will have resounding sustainable success with any and all ASKS you need to make.


Speakers

Judge (Ret.) Mary McClatchey, Founder and President of WorkSmart Partners, has over three decades of experience as a judge, civil rights attorney, workplace mediator, trainer, organizational consultant, and public speaker. For six years, Mary and her team have advised, trained, and consulted with employers on how to create great places to work, mitigate risks of employment litigation, and improve bottom-line results. Mary was formerly Senior Administrative Law Judge for the Colorado State Personnel Board, where she decided and mediated federal and state employment and civil rights cases for 15 years. Prior to law school, Mary co-founded the Women’s Leadership Training Institute in Denver, Colorado, and spent several years as a community organizer. Always focused on the strategic business case for any workplace intervention, Mary has studied Human Capital Management Analytics at the CU Denver Graduate School of Business. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, and her Bachelor of Arts from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Learn More

Karen Goedert currently holds the job of Director of Employee Engagement with Big Agnes/BAP located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She joined Big Agnes, BAP and their sister company Honey Stinger in March of 2019 and is currently responsible for all employee engagement functions, recruiting, training, employee retention, benefit administration and current COVID deputy for Big Agnes and BAP. Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Regis University as well as the SHRM HR Generalist Certificate, SHRM- CP certificate and the CIR (Certified Internet Recruiter) certificate. Current active HR affiliations include memberships in the Society for Human Resource Management, the Colorado Human Resource Association and High Country Human Resources Association. 

Janet Stansberry Drake received her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1996. After 10 years as a trial attorney in private practice, Ms. Drake became a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Special Prosecutions Unit at the Colorado Attorney General’s office. As an attorney in the Special Prosecutions Unit, Ms. Drake investigated and prosecuted organized complex, multi-jurisdictional crimes. She prosecuted a diverse caseload that included human trafficking, homicides, drug trafficking, motor vehicle theft, mortgage fraud, trademark infringement and identity theft. In 2019, Ms. Drake was promoted to Deputy of the Criminal Justice Section. In that position, she manages the Special Prosecutions Unit, the Financial Fraud Unit, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and Police Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Ms. Drake also engages in policy work and collaborates with criminal justice stakeholders around the state. She represents the Colorado Attorney General on the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice and makes recommendations on criminal justice improvement measures. Additionally, Ms. Drake is committed to advancing professionalism and leadership development through bar association participation.
