Economic Development

The Yampa Valley has a diverse, year-round economy with a variety of strong industry sectors including tourism, location-neutral businesses and employees, outdoor recreation products, creative industries, construction, and healthcare.

The Steamboat Springs Chamber and Routt County Economic Development Partnership (RCEDP) are partners in leading economic development efforts on behalf of the City of Steamboat Springs and Routt County, working in collaboration with state and regional economic development partners.

Partners in Economic Development

One of the Steamboat Springs Chamber’s main pillars of work is business development. As part of our business development work, we are dedicated to supporting the Yampa Valley region’s existing local businesses and their employees. We offer educational and networking events, promotional opportunities, and business resources to help them thrive.

Our partner RCEDP is responsible for the holistic economic growth of the Routt County region. This means they are focused on getting new businesses started and increasing our region’s number of quality jobs. Together, we are helping to support a diverse economy in our region.

Economic Development Council

The Steamboat Springs Economic Development Council (EDC), led by RCEDP, provides community input to economic development activities. Comprised of leaders from the business community, city and county government, and local educational institutions, the Council acts as a catalyst for economic development by providing leadership, economic information, and programs that encourage a strong business climate and culture of entrepreneurship.

Its members represent industry sectors including technology, real estate and finance, outdoor recreation products, construction, tourism, healthcare, education, agriculture, arts and culture, and non-profit. EDC task forces focus on business education, communications, and business development. Meetings are generally held once per month at the Historic Routt County Courthouse in the Commissioner's Hearing Room.
