The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is made up of ten full-time employees managing the membership, marketing, and special events departments. The Chamber is overseen by a board of directors who meet monthly.
Meet Our Team
Chief Executive Officer
Kara’s responsibilities at the Chamber include oversight and administration of all operations of the Chamber. She also partners with the City of Steamboat Springs, Routt County, and numerous affiliated organizations. Kara works with the Board of Directors to create an annual program of work and budget to guide the efforts of the tremendous Chamber staff.
Kara is originally from Philadelphia (Go Eagles!), and when not at the office, some of her favorite activities include skiing at the resort or in the backcountry, mountain biking, hiking, golfing, and camping. She also serves as a member of Ski Town Rotary, Northwest Colorado Broadband Board, First Impressions Council, is a Mountain Village Partnership Ex-Officio Board Member, served as the Parks and Recreation Commissioner from 2011 - 2015 and is a graduate of Leadership Steamboat. In 2016, she was honored with the Twenty Under Forty Outstanding Young Achievement Award.
Laura is the Marketing Director at the Chamber, responsible for creating and executing the destination non-ski season marketing plan for Steamboat Springs in both national and regional markets. She partners with the SSCRA Marketing Committee, comprised of business leaders in many sectors of Steamboat. She also facilitates research projects including surveys of summer visitors and cooperative advertising opportunities on behalf of various Steamboat Springs businesses.
Laura grew up in Upstate New York and made her way to Steamboat to live the Colorado dream. Out of the office, she spends as much time outside as she can, trail running, mountain biking and hiking all over Steamboat and around Colorado. Laura also enjoys reading, traveling near and far, and spending time with her two favorite people: her husband and daughter. She’s passionate about empowering kids and volunteers as a senior mentor with Partners of Routt County, Girls Scouts and in local schools.
Finance & Human Resources Director
Heidi manages all financial and human resources responsibilities at the Chamber. She works closely with the Chamber staff to ensure the Economic Development, Marketing, Special Events, and Community Development's human resources and financial needs are well cared for.
Heidi moved to Steamboat from the Antelope Valley in southern California. She lived here previously from 1995 - 2000, and has returned to fulfill her life dream of getting back to the Boat. When not working, she enjoys snowboarding, fishing, and anything outdoors brings her happiness, which makes Steamboat the perfect place for her.
Anna is responsible for all aspects of the Chamber’s membership department including membership sales, retention, member benefits and networking events.
Anna is originally from Michigan, and when not at the office, some of her favorite activities include swimming, tennis, gardening and cooking. Anna also enjoys volunteering as a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace small group leader at church and serves on the Economic Development Counsel's Education Committee.
Public Relations Manager
Maren is responsible for overseeing all aspects of media and public relations as well as acting as a spokesperson for the Chamber and resort community, developing and implementing PR plans, building a strong media presence for the Chamber's marketing efforts and campaigns, building and maintaining media relationships, content creation, and social media efforts.
Maren is a Colorado native, originally from Fort Collins, and when not she's not at work, she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, cooking, learning about wine, and traveling. She is also involved in our community, having served on the IMPACT100 Steering Committee, is a graduate of Leadership Steamboat, and is currently participating in Steamboat Toastmasters and City 101.
Web & Digital Communications Manager
Scott's responsibilities at the Chamber include maintaining and developing the Chamber website, including regular content management, effective implementation of changing technologies and ongoing maintenance. He works with the Marketing Director to coordinate online advertising promotions, landing pages, and SEO to meet marketing plan objectives. He also spends time on social media initiatives and managing email marketing.
Scott is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and when not working, he enjoys spending time skiing, hiking, trail running, and road biking. Scott is a volunteer and Host Home Provider for Horizons Specialized Services and plays music in the worship band at Steamboat Christian Center.
Special Events & Sponsorship Director
Sarah is responsible for planning and producing all signature events, managing sponsorship programs and sales, and acting as a resource for other event producers and groups looking to produce events in Steamboat Springs. She also represents the Chamber as a committee member and acts as the community liaison for various events produced by outside organizations.
Sarah is originally from Steamboat Springs, and when she isn't working an event, she enjoys time in the sunshine, live music, spending time by the campfire, tubing the river, watching the latest movies, and is an avid happy hour enthusiast. Sarah has also regularly participates in United Way's Day of Caring, has volunteered to help with Run Rabbit Run, and is a graduate of Leadership Steamboat.
Sarah's role at the Chamber supports the Special Events and Sponsorship Director in planning and coordinating events by managing inventory, managing the internship program, recruiting and managing event vendors, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, and planning and coordinating membership events including the Navigator Awards, networking and educational events, mixers, and the Economic Summit.
Sarah is originally from Arvada, Colorado, and when not working our different Chamber events, she can be found pursuing her love of painting, enjoying live music, camping, skiing, hiking, standup paddleboarding, and hanging out with her dog Charlie.
Economic Development Director
John Bristol is the Director of Economic Development at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association serving both Steamboat Springs and Routt County. Economic development can be a broad set of programs, policies, or activities working to improve a community's economic well-being and quality of life. He focusses his time and efforts to support business expansion and retention, as well as other initiatives to improve our economy.
John is from Buena Vista, Colorado and earned a B.A. in both Spanish for International Business and Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a M.P.A. in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. He speaks fluent Spanish and basic Portuguese. In his free time, he heads to the mountains to backpack, camp, ski, and spend time with his family and friends. John also enjoys international volunteer work and has been a Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru and El Salvador in the past.
