Steamboat Art Museum

Housed in the historic First National Bank/Rehder Building on 8th and Lincoln, the Steamboat Art Museum (SAM) is a nationally recognized, creative, and historical asset to the communities of Northwest Colorado. SAM’s goals are to inform, educate, inspire, and engage museum guests, members, and artists by offering outstanding fine art exhibitions, educational and cultural programming, community outreach, and collaboration.

As the only art museum in NW Colorado, SAM realizes its mission “to promote and present the visual arts to the community of Northwest Colorado” by hosting two major exhibits and an annual Plein Air Event each year. Additionally, related educational outreach to youth and the elderly, workshops, artists’ lectures, and collaborative special events inspired by our exhibits are developed. Representing a variety of genres, exhibits and related programming inspire collaborations with local organizations as well as leading institutions nationwide.

Admission to exhibits and outreach is free.  

Additionally, SAM’s Museum Store promotes over 50 local and regional artists, vendors, and authors.  

SAM welcomes over 16,000 visitors and hosts 1,200 children through our educational visits, underscoring the transformative power of art in enriching minds, sparking creativity, and nurturing cognitive growth for individuals of all ages. None of this would have been possible without the support of our donors, the dedication of our incredible staff and volunteers, and the enthusiastic participation of our community. —Together, we continue to celebrate the vital role of art in our lives and our future.
