Routt County Wildfire Mitigation Council

Our mission is to create resilient, fire-adapted communities throughout the County so that the potential impacts of wildfire are minimized.  We do this through partnerships and coordination, education and outreach, and programs that assist with long-term risk reduction.

According to the most recent Routt County Hazard Mitigation Plan (2021), "Wildfires have demonstrated to be the most hazardous risk, mostly due to their likelihood and spread potential into the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)."

We must reconsider our relationship with wildfire and take affirmative steps on our properties and throughout our neighborhood to harden structures and create defensible space.
