Marathon Fun Run Runner Safety

We are thrilled to welcome all our in-person runners to Steamboat Springs this summer for the 2021 Steamboat Marathon. This is the first large event that will return to Steamboat in over a year, and we are committed to the health and safety of all our runners, staff, and community. Below are some ways the race will look different this year. Stay tuned for additional details as we get closer to event day. Happy training!

Social Contract

All in-person runners, volunteers and vendors will need to sign a social contract agreement stating they will adhere to all health and safety requirements.

Packet Pickup at Ski Haus

Packet Pickup will be held completely outside at Ski Haus and all attendees will be required to wear a mask while picking up their bags and bibs. Runners will need to select their t-shirt size in advance to limit crowding. There will be no race day packet pickup.

All busses will operate at 75% capacity to ensure the health and safety of runners. Masks will be required while waiting for and riding the bus.

Face Coverings

Masks will be required at the start and on the bus to the full marathon stat. Runners will not need to wear a mask while racing but will need to keep their masks with them to use at aid stations and the finish line.

Aid Stations

All volunteers at aid stations will be required to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing when possible. This year, there will be a “no-touch” policy in place which means no high-fiving runners as they pass. Medical staff will also be located at specific aid stations and the finish line.

Finish Line

The finish line will operate in a “grab n’ go” process for medals, post-race food and other items. There will be no spectators allowed at the finish line.
