Join the Routt County Cattlewomen for their annual Poker Run event. This 5k fun run/walk is meant to encourage beef consumption as part of a healthy lifestyle while exposing people to the local ranch lands of Steamboat Springs. This event is not a fundraiser.
The 5K course will start at the Sherrod Ranch at 42995 RCR 44 and end at the Daughenbaugh home at 41505 RCR 44.
At each kilometer, participants will randomly choose a playing card and keep it with them, picking their final and fifth card at the finish line. The participant must choose a card from the same deck at each kilometer. For example, if a “red” card was chosen at km #1, then a “red” card must be chosen at each subsequent km station.
The winning hand must consist of cards from the same deck. No mixed deck hands will be eligible for winning consideration. For example, the winning hand may not be a combination of “red” and “green” cards; the winning hand must be from one deck.
The participant with the winning poker hand will win a quarter of a beef and must be present to win. The winner will be given the frozen, packaged beef at the event. The first female and male event participants across the finish line will also be awarded a beef SWAG bag. Each participant will get a free beef meal at the finish line.
