Mad Creek Geology and History Hike

  • Routt National Forest, Steamboat Springs, CO, 80487
  • Overview

Two experts, one hike - once a month only!

    AGES 16+

Yampatika's expert Geologist will explore the glacial valley through the lens of Yampa Valley's exceptionally rich geologic past as the group hikes out to the historical sites.

Along the way, Tread of Pioneers Museum staff will share Mad Creek road and area history. Midway through the hike museum staff will shed light on the iconic Mad Creek Barn and it's restoration while the group has a chance to eat and take in the incredible views! At our last stop, the group will head over the Mad Creek bridge to learn about the former Mad Creek Guest Ranch and pioneer families of the area.

Thank you our partner Tread of Pioneers Museum! And although they can't make it this year, thank you Historic Routt County!
