This session breaks down the essentials of credit and debt and the impact that these elements have on a person’s overall financial well-being. Attendees will learn how credit scores are calculated, what’s included in a credit report, and the various strategies to establish and/or improve one’s credit. The session also examines debt as an integral component of savings and how debt could hinder one’s savings endeavors. Through this workshop, participants will develop a better understanding of the effects unmanaged debt can have on one’s credit and the tools and strategies available to address it. Practical tools and strategies will be shared for managing and reducing debt, with guided activities like retrieving and understanding one’s credit report and calculating debt-to-income ratio and net worth.
