A protégé of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval was born in a small town on the outskirts of Havana, Cuba. Just two years after Gillespie brought Latin influences into American Jazz, Sandoval began studying classical trumpet. He has since evolved into one of the world’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist, and composer. Together with his band, Sandoval performs dynamic, engaging shows around the world.
Sandoval has been recognized with ten Grammy Awards and 19 nominations. He is also the 2013 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
