Join the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council in honoring Earth Hour 2010

Help put Steamboat on the map for this global event! March 27, 8:30-9:30pm MST

Earth Hour is an effort led by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about climate change and show leaders that we are looking for solutions; more than 300 U.S. cities joined the collaborative effort in 2009. The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council (YVSC) hopes to put Steamboat on that map this year by adopting this global event as one of their new programs in 2010.

On March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time, YVSC and WWF ask individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the globe to turn off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate their commitment to finding solutions. Since its inception three years ago, Earth Hour's non-partisan approach has captured the world's imagination and became a global phenomenon.

Nearly one billion people turned out for Earth Hour 2009 - involving 4,100 cities in 87 countries on seven continents.
