Blogger Shelly Bisbee, Steamboat Chamber Staff I stumbled upon Leadership Steamboat last year when the company I worked for was asked to speak to the class. “Leadership what?” was my first response. The moment I got there and learned more of what Leadership Steamboat was, I knew I wanted to be involved.

Now I am a student of the 2009/2010 Leadership Steamboat class. I don’t fancy myself a leader in anyway, in fact the opposite but this is an amazing experience that I will never forget. I’m learning more about the community, meeting new people and actually learning that I might even have some leadership qualities about myself after all!

I can tell you more then you need to know about the agriculture in the Yampa valley, I can put a face to the name Paula Cooper-Black now and I’m helping to plant a community garden in downtown Steamboat Springs. Did I mention we are only half-way through our school year? I am excited for the second half of the year, all the things I will learn and will probably be sad when this experience ends on graduation day, June 23.
