With spring breakers in Steamboat Springs this week many are soaking up the March sun, shredding on the ski hill and taking in all the action Northwest Colorado has to offer. On Monday, I was able to take advantage of the local spring break mentality by taking the day off from work to spend with my little sister who was on break from nursing school and visiting Steamboat Springs for the first time. What did we do while she was here? The real question is…what didn’t we do!

My Monday “staycation” started with a delicious breakfast as Freshies Restaurant (Huevos Rancheros for me and the Freshies scramble for her), a ride up and down the Steamboat Ski Area Gondola…no downhill skiing for us, downtown shopping with a strategic stop at F.M. Light & Sons where my sister bought a rockin’ pair of brown Justin cowgirl boots and an afternoon cross-country ski at the Steamboat Springs Nordic Center which was full of hilarious falls and contagious laughter! The day was perfect, entertaining and exhausting; we had so much fun.

On Tuesday morning Go Alpine picked her up at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. Her last words to me?

“I’m thinking about coming back this summer. I cannot wait to go to the rodeo, the farmers’ market, go hiking and biking…” Well, you get the picture!
