Nothing beats a movie on an overcast day. Whether you are in the mood to laugh until you cry, be romanced, scream with fright or get caught up in the action, a movie allows you to escape into another world. To many people’s surprise (or perhaps only to me as a new person in town) Steamboat has two movie theaters: Carmike Chief Plaza 4 between 8th and 9thin downtown Steamboat and Metropolitan Wildhorse Stadium Cinemas off of HWY 40 and Mt. Werner Rd. in Marketplace Plaza.

Both theaters offer some great deals to keep your wallet happy. Carmike offers a matinee price of $6.50 if you catch a show between four and six on Saturday or Sunday. The Metropolitan offers a matinee price of $6.50 every day for any show before 6 pm as well as Bargain Tuesday where all shows before 6 pm are just $5.00 and all shows after 6 pm just $6.50. Add a large popcorn, soda and a box of sour patch kids for dessert and you’ve got dinner and a movie for under $20!

I think for today, Fame, a reinvention of the original Oscar winning hit film, will be the perfect movie to satisfy the guilty pleasure I have for cheesy dance films. See you at the movies!
