Blogger Meagan Coates, Steamboat Chamber Staff
Bright and early this past Friday morning our local community gathered for a fun event we call “Good Morning Steamboat!” The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association invited five speakers to discuss current topics and share the stories behind the headlines. The only catch: each speaker had just seven minutes to share the scoop with attendees. The first speaker covered information about the upcoming Olympic sendoff event on February 5th which will feature a spectacular fireworks show and a special edition video about our hometown heroes all leading up to Winter Carnival and the start of the Games.
Just seven minutes later, the second speaker discussed the Ride4Yellow bike event to raise funds and awareness for cancer locally and with the Lance Armstrong Foundation in August. Fourteen minutes into the event our local school board representatives discussed budget challenges and opportunities our schools are facing. And finally, a fourteen minute discussion between two opposing groups ensued regarding a local annexation project. Whew, we got a lot of learning done in just thirty-five minutes!
Maybe we’ll see you at the next Good Morning Steamboat! event in March!
