Voted one of the most scenic marathons in the country by Runners World, the Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Marathon Course The Marathon starts in the lazy town of Hahn’s Peak Village at 8,128 ft. The course takes you down beautiful county roads, past green pastures dotted with the summer’s first wildflowers. Friendly aid stations greet you every few miles, just enough to keep you motivated and fueled, but not too many to take away from the serenity. The Elk River parallels the course for a few miles offering rhythmic sounds and cooling mists.
As you get closer to town, Mount Werner’s snowy slopes dominate your view from the south, and as you start to enter downtown Steamboat the crowds grow.
Half & 10K Course The Steamboat Half Marathon course is also a USATF-Certified Course that begins at the mid-point of the marathon course, at an elevation of 6,990' and finishes at the same location as the marathon in downtown Steamboat Springs. The Steamboat 10K course begins and ends at the courthouse and takes runners on a scenic tour of town.
The event also includes a youth 1-mile run and free half-mile Fun Run, open to children ages five years and older who will all receive goodies for their participation. The Fun Run is open to the first 200 kids to register.
Why the Steamboat Marathon? The Steamboat Marathon offers a challenge to veterans and newcomers alike, and allows for each runner to have an inspiring, personal experience while feeling celebrated and supported by everyone around.
