Any Steamboat resident will tell you that they moved to here for the winter ski season and our legendary Champagne powder, but the summer is what has made them stay year after year. As I watch the snow melt away  I am reminded of my favorite time of year that is just around the corner. I could go on for days about all that the 'Boat has to offer in the summer, but since we both don’t have the time, here are the ones that can't be missed:

Take a stroll through town and head over to Art in the Park.  Whether you’re in the market for a new hand painted canvas or just a face painting for the kids, this is a great place to get out with friends and family.  If you’re looking for something a little more slow-paced, it doesn’t get much better than Strings on the Mountain.  Between the impressive lineup and the fun family atmosphere, this is a must do when planning your Steamboat summer.

If relaxation is what you’re looking for, you came to the right place.  Grab your bathing suits, shades, and just about anything that floats, and head to the Yampa River.  Enjoy a relaxing float down the river, or jump in a kayak and kick it up a notch!  Make sure to wave to the fly fishers as you pass…or better yet, grab a guide and join the fun! If big boats are more your style, hop in the car and head out to Steamboat Lake Marina where you can rent anything from pontoon boats (grill on board! Yum!) to a speed boat…water-skiing anyone? Make sure to stop at the Clark General Store on the way home for some great homemade ice cream! That's all I'll tell you for now...

check back later this week for more of Alana's summer highlights.
