No one can deny that winter is on its way to Steamboat Springs. Most of the vividly colored aspen leaves have fallen from the aspen trees on Mt. Werner where the ski area is and on Sunday morning the top of Storm Mountain, also apart of the ski area, had a fresh layer of snow. The temperatures are very chilly; winter is just around the corner. Fall or autumn is my favorite season and this weekend I hiked up Spring Creek Trail with my boyfriend and his dog. To our surprise, there were still meadows of aspen trees that had not yet peaked. The higher we climbed, the more vivid the yellows and oranges in the leaves were. It was a great sight and although I will be excited for winter once the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation opens, I am glad fall is still here for now.
