Featuring everything from the scenic Steamboat Marathon to the super fun Bolder Boulder, you really can't go wrong.  This state offers something for every runner at every distance, which is why we've detailed some of our favorites below.

Marathons

 

Colfax Marathon – May 15, 2016

Denver’s largest marathon weekend and only full marathon in Denver for 2016. Consider participating with 5 of your friends, family or co-workers in the Marathon Relay and split the 26.2 miles.  This event is a great way to experience urban Denver, run through the Denver Zoo, run along the Platte River, watch the dragon boats in Sloan’s Lake as you pass by, run through Sports Authority Field, and finish in beautiful City Park.

Steamboat Marathon – June 5, 2016steamboat-half

Run alongside the roaring Elk River through the emerald green pastures on Country Road 129 with the snow-capped Rocky Mountains of Colorado all around and find out why the Steamboat Marathon was ranked as one of the “Top 10 Destination Marathons in North America.”

Leadville Trail Marathon – June 18, 2016leadville

Run through the historic mining district’s challenging old mining roads and trails, and hit a high of 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass during the Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail Marathon or Heavy Half Marathon. Aspen Valley Marathon – July 16, 2016

The Aspen Valley Marathon is one of the top marathons in Colorado for good reason. The race follows the historical and beautiful Rio Grande Trail gradually descending 1,500 feet alongside the Roaring Fork River.

 

Half Marathons

 

Horsetooth Half Marathon – April 17, 2016horsetooth

The Horsetooth Half Marathon is known for a challenging, yet stunning course, beginning at Hughes Stadium on the western edge of Fort Collins and gains 500 feet over the first 2 miles to the high point at the top of 'Monster Mountain'. The course then rolls along the stunning eastern shoreline of Horsetooth Reservoir before heading east over Bingham Hill and onto the finish line at the New Belgium Brewery.

Platte River Half Marathon – April 10, 2016

Runners follow the tree-lined trails along the South Platte River for nearly the entire race at Littleton’s Platte River Half Marathon & Buckhorn Exchange Relay, a point-to-point race that brings almost 3,000 runners out each spring.

Steamboat Half Marathon - June 5, 2016

steamboat-fullStarting north of Steamboat, this race runs alongside wide open ranch lands with gorgeous views of green pastures that lead up to the foot of the Sleeping Giant.  While running this fun race, you’ll be so distracted by the sweeping views that you’ll have a hard time remembering you’re running!  Find out why this event is a favorite of so many runners and sells out year after year.

Aspen Valley Half Marathon – July 16, 2016

The Aspen Valley Half Marathon is one of the most scenic races in Colorado, running along the Rio Grande Trail while following the Roaring Fork River.  Take in the views of the surrounding valley and the Elk Mountain Range as you run this gorgeous half marathon!

Looking for a great 10K to run this year?  The Bolder Boulder is a top choice, offering a fun atmosphere, an epic finish on Folsom Field, and a party with live entertainment, skydivers, a flyover, and more.

Steamboat 10K – June 5, 2016

steamboat-10kStarting and finishing in downtown Steamboat, the Steamboat 10K leaves town heading over rolling hills with views of the snow-capped Steamboat Ski Resort.  The route takes you through beautiful Strawberry Park and Old Town Steamboat before finishing in front of a large crowd on main street.  Join us for this year’s 10K and see why this is one of the best 10Ks around.
