With hundreds of inches of fresh Champagne Powder™ now behind us, it’s time to celebrate the waning winter in Steamboat Springs. It was an incredible one  - with more than 300 inches of snow - and now it’s time to pay tribute to this season with the annual Springalicious event at the Steamboat Ski Resort.

Closing weekend in Steamboat has its classic traditions. Think sunny patios, skiing antics and two free concerts with nationally-renown performers.

pondKick Off the Weekend

On Saturday April 12, the DIY-ers shine in the 34th Annual Cardboard Classic, where costumes and themes go a lot further than engineering and craftsmanship for these corrugated creations. Did you ever think you’d see a cardboard pirate ship careening down Stampede? Well, you’ll see it here.

After that spectacle comes another – a wild and entertaining performance from the March Fourth Marching Band complete with circus acrobatics and a warm brass band sound.

Close Out the Weekend

cardboardOn Sunday, the final day of lift-served skiing, the Splashdown Pond Skim tests the mettle of those who dare brave the freezing water at the base of the mountain.

To close out the 2013/14 ski season, get Philadelphonic with the one and only G. Love & Special Sauce, who will have you boogying down to their loose, bluesy hip-hop style.

There’s no better place to recall the memories of an unforgettable winter, all while dreaming of the Steamboat summer soon to come.
