There is a first time for everything, right?

Yesterday I experienced two “firsts” here in the Yampa Valley. I rode on a snowmobile for the first time and I went into the Routt National Forrest and took part in my first Christmas tree cutting. Growing up in the city, I am accustomed to buying a tree from a tree lot which I have always really enjoyed doing. My experience yesterday gave me a new appreciation for Christmas trees. The full day adventure started with a snowmobile ride into National Forrest land about an hour north of Steamboat Springs. There was so much snow I could hardly believe it. I felt like I was swimming in snow, it was almost up to my waist. All of it was very dry, light and fun to play in. The family I went with has been doing this for years and they knew all the steps, I was just happy to tag-along and be apart of it. By the end of the day we had two wonderful looking trees, an experience that I will be talking about for awhile and a carload of smiles on the way back home.
