Steamboat Springs was finally blessed by the snow gods this past week just in time for Christmas and just in time to add some extra winter spirit to the 2010 U.S. Olympic Trials that went off with a bang. Thanks to a winter storm on Wednesday, Steamboat Mountain received 13.5 inches of beautiful, fluffy white snow.  For skiing and riding enthusiasts, it was the best holiday gift they could have received.

In addition to the excitement generated by all the fresh snow, the terrain park crew worked around the clock to open Maverick’s Superpipe and Terrain Park with two rails and two jumps. Rabbit Ears and Lil’ Rodeo, including the mini-mavs halfpipe, are also open to beginner and intermediate skiers and riders. The advanced terrain park is expected to be fully opened before the New Year. In total the resort is 74 percent open, which means 15 lifts, 125 trails and 2, 196 acres of terrain for you to enjoy. I can’t wait to ring in the New Year by ripping through fluffy white snow.
