After work a few friends and I met at the Botanical Gardens to do some catching up while walking on the Yampa River Core Trail. Along the way we passed groups of summer camp kids, exhausted from their day’s activities, as well as many smiling cyclists, on their way to their next adventure. Happy to see that the Yampa River took advantage of the recent rainfall, we enjoyed our stroll, never straying far from its banks, and before we knew it we arrived at the base of Howelsen Hill – just in time to watch some friends play volleyball.

As we approached the sand volleyball courts, we observed victorious baseball teams and their fans leaving the Howelsen fields from an exhilarating World Series game. The Triple Crown Series is ending its stay in the Steamboat area with their playoffs happening this weekend, the 11th of August. It is always a treat to meet the teams, which number over 50, and their families who come from all over the country, happy to have made it to the event and even more excited to be in the Steamboat Springs area with so many activities awaiting them between games.

Heading our separate ways after our late afternoon walk, we all felt as if it was the perfect end to the day and start of the evening in our mountain town.
