Conference space — Large and small
Steamboat has two conference centers that can accommodate large groups: The Sheraton SteamboatResort and the Steamboat Grand Hotel. These hotels are located across the street from each other, which allows them to work together to accommodate groups of about 900 people.
Individually, the Sheraton has a total of 19,700 square feet of indoor meeting and exhibit space and can comfortably accommodate about 700 people with theatre-style seating or 525 with classroom seating.
The Steamboat Grand has a total of 17,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and can seat 600 theatre-style or 250 classroom-style. The Sheraton also has 16 additional indoor meeting rooms and six outdoor patios, and the Steamboat Grand has three additional indoor meeting rooms, several outdoor patios and an 250-seat outdoor amphitheater. The hotels have all the high-tech necessities, including satellite services; 512K broadband Internet access and T-1 broadband Internet access; and audio-visual professionals on staff. Some of the Sheraton's meeting rooms are equipped for multiple computer stations, a feature that is available at the Steamboat Grand as well.
Both hotels have deluxe guest rooms and suites. The Sheraton has 315 rooms and the Steamboat Grand has 328 rooms. Smaller groups, up to 200 people, can choose from over 25 meeting facilities that range from 320 to 1,550 square feet and have varying degrees of audio and visual capabilities. Most of the meeting facilities are located in hotels and condominium complexes, but the Steamboat Springs Arts Depot and Colorado Mountain College also have meeting space. Ranches offer unique option
Guest ranches go hand-in-hand with Steamboat's Western heritage and make a unique setting for smaller conferences or meetings. Hosting a business meeting at a ranch offers solitude and a get-away-from-it-all feel — a great break from hectic city life. Most of the Yampa Valley's ranches are located north of Steamboat Springs near the Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area and Steamboat Lake State Park or south of Steamboat near Stagecoach State Park and the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Almost all of the ranches offer outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, fishing and hiking on site. After hours activities
One of the biggest advantages of holding a meeting in Steamboat Springs is the wide variety of outdoor activities the area offers. After all, all work and no play is no fun. Group activities give people the opportunity to get to know each other and work together as a team. Some "after work" options include: Golf, horseback riding, fly fishing, rafting or tubing, attending rodeo competitions or Strings in the Mountains musical concerts, ATVs, hiking, tennis, nature walks and tours, soaking in the natural hot spring pools, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing and hot air ballooning. Meeting planners can often take advantage of one-stop-shopping and package activities in with their lodging and meeting space.
