The Steamboat Springs Economic Development Council is a sub-committee of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. The council is comprised of leaders from the business community, city and county government and the local educational institutions. The council acts as a catalyst for economic development by providing leadership, economic information and programs that encourage a culture of entrepreneurship.
The Steamboat Springs Economic Development Council has the vision of creating and supporting a healthy vibrant diverse economy, while applying sound stewardship to the human and natural resources that make the Yampa Valley such a special place to live, work, and play.
Committee Structure: The EDC is comprised of diverse leaders representing primary industries: development, non-profits, education, health care, construction and ski area.
Workshops and Educational Seminars: From starting your own business to learning how to better operate your existing business, the CMC Business Resource Center has the class for you. First Steps, Next Steps and Success Steps Breakfasts offer a continuum of education for any entrepreneur. SBDC/SCORE Counseling: The Small Business Development Center, located on the Colorado Mountain College (CMC) campus offers a significant amount of free business counseling, primarily focusing on pre-venture applicants. The local chapter of SCORE (Service Corp. of Retired Executives) brings a diverse range of expertise to business start-ups or existing businesses. Bogue Incubation Center: Located at the CMC campus, the Bogue Incubation Center features office space with common services and equipment, perfect for the start-up entrepreneur focusing on business services. High speed Internet and small group conference space are available to all tenants. Micro-loan Program: Working in conjunction with the SBA and local banks, the EDC has been successful in offering small loans to start-up companies, ensuring their success rate by requiring education and business counseling.
